Spanish rider Izan Guevara climbed back onto the Moto2 podium after finishing second in the race at the Aragon Grand Prix, held this Sunday at the MotorLand Aragon circuit in Alcañiz. The BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha rider celebrated the result soaked in sparkling wine on the podium, his Pirelli cap pulled low and his blue and red leathers splattered with foam.
Guevara had put in a strong Saturday, qualifying second for the race just 0.179 seconds behind pole sitter Alonso López, who broke the circuit's outright lap record with a time of 1 minute, 49 seconds and 405 thousandths. Dani Holgado completed the front row despite a fall in Friday practice, while championship leader Manuel González would start from fourth.
The result strengthens Guevara's season, as he continues fighting for the top positions in the Moto2 World Championship in a year marked by the emergence of several young riders already being tipped for a jump to MotoGP. The intermediate class remains one of the most competitive on the grid, with several Spanish teams battling race after race for the championship lead.
The Aragon Grand Prix was part of a full weekend of motorcycle racing at MotorLand, which also hosted the Moto3 and MotoGP races, the latter dominated by Marc Marquez after he won Saturday's sprint race ahead of his brother Alex Marquez.
