Six executives from different sectors discussed the future of organizations at a Forbes Talks event held on October 8 at Actiu Space in Madrid, titled The Future of Organizations, From Purpose to Impact. The event was moderated by journalist Esther Molina and brought together representatives from Actiu, Accenture, Capgemini, Siemens Spain and Portugal, ONCE and Moeve.
One of the central themes of the conversation was the idea that corporate purpose has to translate into concrete day to day actions, rather than remaining a theoretical statement. Participants also agreed that leadership models are shifting away from hierarchical structures toward approaches built on autonomy and trust.
Several speakers noted that technical skills now change in cycles as short as six months, which forces companies to invest as much in people as in technology. The discussion also raised the point that measuring real impact requires looking at several levels at once: a company's own internal results, its effect on the ecosystem it operates in, and the broader social consequences of its activity.
